The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County and the Human Rights Commission of Hopkinsville-Christian County will soon be opening the first meeting of the 2025 Supper Club.
Under a theme of “Inspiring Cultural & Culinary Conversations,” this remains as an open group capable of exploring community and diversity through food.
The club is open to anyone who loves food, conversation, and learning about other cultures commensally — together at the table.
Set for 6 PM Thursday, February 13, at the Pennyroyal Area Museum, this program features Dr. Paresh and Mona Sheth, who will be cooking special recipes of Indian heritage.
Dr. Sheth is a neurologist now under the umbrella of the Jennie Stuart Health Provider Based Clinics, and Sheth is actively involved in many aspects of the community.
Both love to cook, and they maintain a “friendly banter” over who is the better chef. They will each prepare classic Indian cuisine and share the origins and stories about their chosen dishes.
They will demonstrate traditional dishes, and guests will have the opportunity to taste and experience the cuisine. Guests will take home a recipe and any unique ingredients required to cook the dish at home.
The cost to attend is $10 per person, or one can purchase a season pass to attend all six programs for $50, making them $8.33 each.
Dates for upcoming Supper Club gatherings will be April 10, June 12, August 7, October 9 and December 11. All programs will be held at 6 PM in the Pennyroyal Area Museum.
The Supper Club is designed to build community belonging, where sharing conversations over a meal is a great way to bring people together to relate culture, rituals and traditions, and the goal is to build a community that understands and promotes cross-cultural dialogue with neighbors.
