Grand Jury Issues Indictments for High-Speed Chases and Assault on Officer

The Christian County Grand Jury issued several indictments on Friday, including on charges of wanton endangerment and assault of a law enforcement officer.

A true bill was returned on Devonte Wolterding, of St. Louis, Missouri, on charges of first-degree and third-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree assault of a police officer, receiving stolen property over $10,000, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle. He also faces several traffic violations.

The charges stem from a high-speed chase on November 16, 2024, when Kentucky State Police reported a trooper tried to stop an SUV for speeding near Exit 89 in Oak Grove. Police said Wolterding fled and reached speeds over 100 mph before the pursuit ended when he hit a trooper’s vehicle on Pennyrile Parkway at the Eagle Way Overpass.

Chad Page, of Clarksville, was indicted on of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree and third-degree fleeing, and evading police, driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, first offense, and several traffic violations.

The charges are in connection to a pursuit on November 24, 2024, when Kentucky State Police reported a trooper attempted to make a traffic stop for a vehicle speeding on Fort Campbell Boulevard.. Authorities said the pursuit ended when the vehicle collided with another vehicle in front of Gate 4.

A true bill was returned on William Wyatt, of Hopkinsville, on charges of third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

The charges are from November 24, 2024, when Hopkinsville Police reported Wyatt was involved in a wreck on Glass Avenue and was under the influence of alcohol. Police said Wyatt was taken to the hospital for back pain where he started cussing and yelling and then kicked an officer’s hand.
