Last week, Trigg County High School played host to the Fourth District Academic Team Tournament, where the Wildcats — alongside Caldwell County and Livingston Central — battled for knowledge supremacy, and a chance to move into regional and state competition.

And many from the News Edge listening area succeeded.

For assessments:

+ In Arts & Humanities, Trigg County’s Sydney Bryant took first with a 30, Trigg County’s Olivia Over nabbed second with a 29, Caldwell County’s Hannah Dalton got third with a 28, and Trigg County’s Mabry Alexander was fourth with a 26.

+ In Composition, Caldwell County’s Addison Heppner was first, Trigg County’s Mari Kate Ricks and Charlstyn Heath were respectively second and third, and Caldwell County’s Payten Simmons was fourth.

+ In Language Arts, Caldwell County’s Landon Lanham was first with a 23, Trigg County’s Riley Shaughnessy was second with a 21, Caldwell County’s Landon Cunningham was third with a 20, and Trigg County’s Olivia Over was fifth with a 19.

All assessments are out of 50 points.

In Future Problem Solving, Trigg County finished first and Caldwell County second, and in Quick Recall Caldwell County took top honors.

Because of their efforts, Dillingham, Cunningham, Bryant, Heppner, Lanham and Over made the 2025 All-District 4 Team.

And this year, the annual Hume Sportsmanship Award went to the Trigg County Wildcats.

All students who placed in assessments, as well as the top two schools in team competitions, will compete at the February 22 Regional 1 Championship, set this year at McCracken County High School.

According to long-time Governor’s Cup Historian David Snow, Caldwell County’s team score of 55 ranks 14th all-time in Fourth District competition.
