After weeks of providing weather updates that have included cold, snow, and ice, meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in Paducah are predicting the first substantial rain and moderate temperatures of 2025.
The weather service has issued a flood watch for western Kentucky that takes effect early Thursday and continues through late Thursday night.
Keith Cooley is one of the meteorologists there who says midweek temperatures in the 50s will give way to rain on Thursday and Friday.

click to download audioBetween 1-3 inches of rain is expected in the southern Pennyrile with up to four inches possible along the Ohio River from the Missouri bootheel to east of Evansville.
Temperatures will return to the 50s on Saturday and into the low 60s on Sunday before a dip into the low 50s on Monday and Tuesday.
