A Union County native who had a successful career in the country music industry died Thursday morning at the age of 49.
MusicRow.com reports Ben Vaughn, President & CEO of Warner Chappell Music Nashville, led the company for over a decade, overseeing all creative and commercial operations.
Vaughn was a lifelong country music enthusiast, beginning his career at radio station WMSK. He would later go to Nashville, where he attended Belmont University. His career in music publishing started with an internship at Warner Chappell, eventually leading him to leadership roles at Big Tractor Music and EMI Music Publishing before returning to Warner Chappell as its Nashville leader in 2012.
Under Vaughn’s guidance, Warner Chappell Nashville achieved significant success, earning numerous accolades, including the prestigious Triple Crown in 2019. His songwriters garnered numerous awards and Hall of Fame inductions. Vaughn was also a dedicated advocate for songwriters’ rights.
