A well-known Hopkinsville businesswoman and community member has passed away.
According to Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home, Gay Nell Rittenberry died Thursday at her residence. She was 77 years old.
Rittenberry, a native of Franklin, taught English at Hopkinsville High School for many years, before changing careers and launching into real estate and establishing Coldwell Banker MetroNet Realtor, with her business partner, David Lea Sturgis, who passed away in May 2024. She was a member of the Christian County Republican Party, Christian County Republican Women, and the Hopkinsville-Christian & Todd County Association of Realtors. She was also very active with Fort Campbell and the Hopkinsville Military Affairs Committee.
She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Gayle (Winston) Lin of Lexington, KY, Charles (Amanda) Rittenberry of Cornelius, NC, and Emily Rittenberry of Toronto, Canada; her sister: Ruth Deweese of Nashville, TN; her grandchildren: Andrew Lin, Benjamin Lin, David Lin, Donovan Bisson, Toby Bisson, Isaac Burns, Aaron Burns, and Jordan Burns; and her long-time companion: Douglas De Blasi of Fairfield, NJ.
