Man Charged With Damaging Church Statue

A Hopkinsville man was charged after an investigation into a statue that was badly damaged at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hopkinsville Wednesday.

Hopkinsville Police say on January 28th 26-year-old Marley Taylor was seen on video destroying a stone statue of the Virgin Mary and Christ, along with a metal deer statue at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

The statues were in memory of a deceased parishioner and a past priest they are valued at $20,000. He was located Monday night and charged with first-degree criminal mischief.
