Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Traffic Stop

A Hopkinsville man was charged with attempted murder of a first responder after fighting with law enforcement during a traffic stop on I-169 Wednesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a motorcycle driven by 44-year-old Carlo Jones, and he started fighting with the officer before causing him and the officer to go over the guardrail and then choking the officer.

The officer suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Jones was arrested and charged with menacing, resisting arrest, improper passing, and attempted murder of a first responder.
