Officials with the National Weather Service in Paducah are growing increasingly concerned about the severe weather threat Friday night into Saturday.

Forecasters said the risk begins with a broken line of severe thunderstorms that is forecast to develop over central Missouri Friday afternoon and evening and then track east into the area. Widespread damaging winds with gusts of 70-75 mph in the strongest storms, and at least a few tornadoes, some of which may be strong are expected Friday night.

As we get into Saturday morning, another round of severe storms is possible in the morning hours, mainly over southwest Kentucky.

Your Weather Edge will continue monitoring the latest updates. The National Weather Service in Paducah is expected to host a conference call Thursday afternoon to further discuss this severe weather threat.
