Instructions Given For Cadiz Rotary Radio Auction

The Cadiz Rotary Club is working towards a goal of one thousand items to be auctioned off during the 58th annual radio auction next month.

The auction will kick off Monday, April 14th, with the annual kickoff breakfast at Lake Barkley State Resort Park. The radio auction will take place each night at the Cadiz Baptist Church annex. The auction will be broadcast nightly on 106.5 WKDZ-FM and wkdzradio.com.

Rotary auction Co-chair Meg Hicks says this year’s online bidding process can be accessed through an app called Handbid.

The online bidding portion of the auction was added in 2020 when the COVID pandemic disrupted normal activity. An online auction was held exclusively that year through the WKDZ Big Deals store with the club opting to continue the online portion each year since through the Big Deals Store. Earlier this year the club voted to use a different method for the online portion of the auction called Handbid.

Auction co-chair Beth Sumner explained how to donate an item to the auction.

Sumner said a unique piece of Ham Festival memorabilia will be featured this year.

The first rotary auction in Trigg County was held several months after WKDZ signed on the air in 1966. Patterned after the Hopkinsville Rotary Club’s auction, that first two-day auction raised over $4,000.

Next month’s rotary radio auction will take place April 14th through the 18th at 6:00 each night and will air on 106.5 FM WKDZ and be streamed online at wkdzradio.com.
