William Earl “Sonny” Covington, age 83, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Christian Health Center of natural causes. Private Graveside Services will be at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. The family has entrusted Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with handling the arrangements.
Mr. Covington was born on November 26, 1941, in Trenton, KY, the son of the late Henry Earl and Frances Palmer Dickinson Covington. Sonny graduated from Austin Peay State University with his Master’s. He was the Owner/Administrator of Covington’s Convalescent Center for over 50 years. He was a First Baptist Church member and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Teacher for over 35 years. He was a member of the Nashville Al Menah Shriners. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Randels.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gwen Cisney Covington of Hopkinsville; his sons, Casey (Karen) Covington of Hopkinsville, and Carey (Brittany) Covington of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Keena Daniel of Cadiz; his brother, Richard Covington of Hopkinsville; his seven grandchildren, Sheldon Covington, Sarah Covington, Taylor Daniel, Avery Daniel, Ellie Covington, Will Covington, and Carson Covington and one great granddaughter, Madalynn R. Phillips.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to First Baptist Church at 1400 South Main Street, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
