A Hopkins County man who had been on the run from law enforcement since a collision last week was apprehended on Monday.

According to Madisonville Police, 45-year-old Jonathan Ray Ruby of White Plains, who had numerous outstanding warrants, was taken into custody without incident after officers received a credible tip that he was in Madisonville’s city limits. Police say he now faces additional drug-related charges after officers discovered trafficking-level quantities of illegal narcotics in his possession, along with other new charges.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were seeking Ruby after state police reported that he ran away from a collision in Mortons Gap last Wednesday, following a physical altercation with Hopkins County Sheriff’s deputies. At that time, police said he had multiple felony warrants including fleeing or evading police, trafficking in a controlled substance, and parole violations.

After his arrest on Monday, police report Ruby is now facing additional charges, including trafficking in marijuana and meth, possession of synthetic drugs, identity theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
