Trigg County Emergency Officials are warning county residents to avoid flooded roadways and abide by road closure and high water signs.
Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree along with other county officials have conducted an operations meeting to help assess the damage and impacted areas throughout the county. As previously stated, please stay off the flooded roads and high water areas. Even though a road may seem passable, the structure of the road may be damaged causing it to give out if any additional weight is added. We encourage everyone to turn around and look for alternate routes if you approach a road with standing water.
Acree says please DO NOT go around any roads that have barricades. Deputies are continuing to monitor the barricaded areas. Do not attempt to swim, drive, or walk through the high flooded roads. Trigg County and State Highway Road Departments are continuing to place signs and cones in affected areas. These are in place for your safety and your safety the number one priority.
Trigg County Sheriff Deputies will be conducting welfare checks on residents who may have severe flood damage or possibly be trapped at their residence. Deputies will bring food and water to those who need it. If you know of anyone that needs assistance, please contact the Trigg County 9-1-1 non emergency line 270-522-8888 and ask for a Deputy.
