The Cook-Webb Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of James R. Smith.
Mr. James R. Smith, age 92, of Trenton, passed away on Monday morning at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
Mr. Smith was born June 12, 1931, in Pembroke, Kentucky son of the late J.D. and Jewell Garrott Smith. He was a Veteran of the United States Army a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and loved his family, farming, fishing, Kentucky Basketball, and camping.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter Barbara Lawson – Porter, he is survived by his wife Irene Lawson-Smith of Trenton as well as one son Jamie (Sue) Smith of Columbia, Kentucky, and four daughters Michelle Smith-Creasman and husband Tommy of Decatur, Tennessee, Ruth Lawson – Bland and husband Stewart, Jenny Lawson – Morris and husband T.T., one brother J.D. of Trenton, Kentucky as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the Smith family will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, from 11:00 until 1:00 at the Cook – Webb Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in the chapel of the Cook – Webb Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Childress officiating, interment to follow at the Edgewood Cemetery in Trenton.
