Ida Jean Robertson Ashby, 91, of Oak Grove, KY passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 2023.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Olivet Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Bunger officiating. Burial will follow in Powell Cemetery in LaFayette, KY. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of LaFayette, KY, Ida Jean was born March 15, 1932, the daughter of the late John Robertson and Nannie Mae Cayce Robertson. She was the last surviving member of the South Christian High School Class of 1950. Ida led a busy life being a dedicated homemaker, raising four loving sons, serving as a 4-H Leader and Band Parent, serving on multiple committees at Olivet Baptist Church, working as an Administrative Assistant at Hudson Brothers, and eventually welcoming seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren that she cherished. She led her growing family across many miles of travel and adventure over the years, all the while providing a wonderful example of steadfastness, perseverance, loyalty, and love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John Keith Ashby who died October 14, 2022; and her siblings: Mabel Smithson, Ruth Davenport, Katie Rutland, John T. Robertson, Anne Coombs, and Marvin Robertson.
Survivors include her four sons: Tim Ashby of Oak Grove, KY, Marc (Louise) Ashby of Pembroke, KY, Terry (Donna) Ashby of Lexington, KY, and Fred (Janet) Ashby of Murray, KY; her seven grandchildren: Johnny Ashby, Sarah Ashby, Rachel (Jared) Cunningham, Rebecca Ashby, Page (Jim) Kelly, Katie (Paul) London, and Emily (Chris) Kinney; and her nine great-grandchildren.
