Kentucky 139 Reopened After Semi Overturned Using Detour

wreck-3

Kentucky 139, the Princeton Road, has reopened after a semi using the road as a detour overturned this morning near the intersection with Hurricane Road.

The truck was hauling processed chickens with a recovery crew able to remove the truck without offloading the cargo.

The detour was the result of a crash on I-24 that sent six people to the hospital just after 2:00 this morning.

Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say an eastbound tractor-trailer hit a truck hauling a vehicle, which pushed it into another truck that was hauling a trailer full of tires. They then hit two other vehicles that were stopped in traffic due to a prior wreck.

Six people in the vehicles that were stopped in traffic were taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The original wreck that occurred just before midnight two miles west of the Cadiz exit with US 68 saw an eastbound SUV hit the back of a box truck.

A passenger in the SUV was taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital and later flown to a Nashville hospital.

Deputies are continuing their investigation.

I-24 has since reopened.
