South Western Kentucky’s Economic Development Efforts Result In Lower Property Taxes

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council said their efforts to bring industries into the region have helped to keep property taxes lower in recent years.

Specifically, in the last three years, the three-county region has celebrated 15 industry announcements or expansions bringing in over 1,500 new jobs and nearly $2 billion in new capital investments.

SWK EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks said the investments are adding significant value to the regional property tax rolls allowing the three-county region to celebrate lower taxes for all residents.

A ten-year county property tax rate trend analysis highlights:

* Christian County’s rate has dropped from 18.7 cents per $100 to 18.1 cents per $100 value.

* Trigg County’s rate has dropped from 8 cents per $100 value to 7.8 cents per $100 value.

* Todd County’s rate remains unchanged at 9 cents per $100 value.

The three-county regional rates remain among the lowest in the nation, according to taxrates.com.
