Woman Charged With Endangering The Welfare Of A Minor

A Hopkinsville woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after her child was found wearing only a shirt at a playground alone Wednesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say the 2-year-old was found by staff at Freedom Elementary School and after further investigation, the parent 40-year-old Heather Holzbaur was located at her home on Quincy Drive.

Holzbaur reportedly came running from upstairs after the front door was found open and was asking police to not take her child stating last time they were going to.

Police say they could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Holzbaur and she claimed she had been drinking last night.

The Department of Community-Based Services was reportedly called due to this being the third time police had been called for similar calls at the same home within the last several weeks.

Holzbaur was cited to court on the charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.
