The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments from Friday’s session, including charges of wanton endangerment, robbery, and burglary.
A true bill was returned on 26-year old Hector Benloss, of Hopkinsville, on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault minor injury, receiving stolen property – firearm, enhancement possession of marijuana, using restricted ammunition during a felony – shots fired, no injury, and operating on a suspected/revoked operator’s license.
The charges stem from September 6th when Hopkinsville Police say Benloss was involved in an argument with a female over a video game. Benloss is accused of hitting the female with his fist and when she allegedly pulled a knife on him, he fired a shot through a door frame. Benloss was later located on Ft. Campbell Boulevard and taken into custody. Police reported the gun used in the shooting was found in the trunk and had been reported stolen out of Springfield, Tennessee.
31-year old Shawn Boykin, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon by prior deadly weapon felony offender, using restricted ammunition during a felony – no shots, third-degree terroristic threatening, and third-degree assault of police/probation officer.
According to Hopkinsville Police, officers were called to the area of Aspen Drive in September in which Boykin was allegedly following his wife around in a vehicle after pointing a gun at her and threatening her. While officers were talking to Boykin, police said he wouldn’t follow commands to stay outside the house and reached for his waistband as he was fighting officers and entering the house. During the physical fight with officers, Boykin reportedly kicked an officer and was tased twice before he was arrested. Police also said they found a gun that had slipped down Boykin’s pants leg.
A true bill was returned on 56-year old Barbara Joe Clark, of Hopkinsville, on charges of first-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence.
The charges stem from September when Clark allegedly threatened to stab two Food Giant employees when they confronted her while she was leaving the store with stolen meat in her bag. Hopkinsville Police said the employees grabbed the bag which contained Clark’s social security card and debit card. Clark reportedly fled the area in a vehicle leaving a wig, slippers, and a cell phone behind.
And 28-year old Tyler Brinkerhoff, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on charges of possession of burglary tools, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000, and five counts of third-degree burglary.
According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Brinkerhoff was arrested in September in connection to multiple items being taken out of the Lacy Elementary School on Greenville Road.
