Delta Lee Wilson Shelton, age 91, of Pembroke, passed away on December 11, 2023, in Nashville, TN of natural causes. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Brother Andy Haley officiating and burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mrs. Shelton was born on August 30, 1932, in Martin, TN, the daughter of the late N. Lester and Azzie Forrester Wilson. Delta worked for the Christian County School System and Cayce-Yost Department Store. She was a member of Pembroke Baptist Church for over 70 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Shelton; her son, Jim Shelton; her brother, Les Wilson, and her sisters, Flossie Thomas and Mildred Tucker.
Survivors include her sons, Joe Shelton and his wife, Betsy, of Pembroke, KY, and Jeff Shelton and his wife, Lois, of Jeffersonville, IN; her daughters, Delta Ann Shelton and her husband, Larry Christy, of Hopkinsville, and Carla Chenoweth of Pembroke; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Shelton, of Pembroke; seven grandchildren and four step-grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
