A quick start and then some big plays late were the keys for the Hopkinsville Tigers to celebrate a Senior Night win Friday. The Tigers got 34 points from big man Antonio Williams as they picked up their second straight win with a 70-57 takedown of Muhlenberg County.

Williams got the Tigers jumpstarted with five quick points as Hopkinsville rocked the Mustangs by scoring the first 11 of the game. That start carried over into a 23-14 lead after the first eight minutes.

Muhlenberg County trailed by double digits essentially the entire second quarter as Hopkinsville took a 38-26 lead into the locker room at the half.

Muhlenberg County had trouble containing Antonio Williams throughout the opening half. Williams had 15 points at the break. The play of Jace Sommers was the main reason the Mustangs were still in the game at the half, as he scored 13 points, including dropping in three shots from long-range.

Behind strong efforts from Artavius Moses and Antonio Williams, the Tigers came out of the break and extended the lead to as many as 17 late in the third quarter before settling for a 54-39 score at the end of three.

Jace Sommers, Madox Jernigan, and Madix Brannon helped spark a rally in the fourth quarter that would see Muhlenberg County get within six on a couple of occasions, but the Tigers got big plays from James Bradley and Antonio Williams to turn back each run as Hopkinsville would pull out to the final 13-point margin.

In addition to the 34 points from Williams, Hoptown got 13 points from Artavius Moses and 7 points from James Bradley.

Jace Sommers led three Mustangs in double-digits with 19 points. Madox Jernigan ended up with 14, while Isaac Coats added 10.

Hopkinsville improves to 11-15 with the win. The Tigers close out the regular season Tuesday on the road at Owensboro.
