Fort Campbell High School will soon have a new principal.

Mr. Ryan Smith, Mid-Atlantic District Superintendent, has announced the appointment of Dr. Andrea Marr as the new Community Superintendent for Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, effective October 6.

Smith said Marr’s experience, both in educational leadership and within military environments, makes her an ideal fit for the community, and that her commitment to educational excellence and understanding of the unique needs of military families will undoubtedly benefit their students and staff.

Marr’s career in education spans more than two decades, beginning in the Harnett County School District, where she taught English language arts and history and later served as an instructional coach.

From there, she went to Arizona, where she served as the Director of the Cambridge International Curriculum for the Yuma Union High School District. In this capacity, she led initiatives that significantly improved ACT and Cambridge Assessment scores across multiple high schools.

In 2017, she joined Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) and has since held pivotal roles, starting as an Assistant Principal at Barsanti Elementary School in Fort Campbell. She progressed to the principalship at Murray Elementary School in Fort Stewart, Georgia, before joining the Falcons in 2021.

While at Fort Campbell, she spearheaded the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), which notably enhanced school-wide literacy rates.

Marr holds a doctorate in administration and educational leadership from Liberty University, alongside an educational specialist degree in leadership and administration, and a master’s in administration from Walden University.

She also earned her bachelor’s degree from Fayetteville State University and holds a K-12 structured English immersion endorsement from Arizona Western University.

Marr is an Army veteran who has served as a military police officer and with The Old Guard in Arlington, Virginia.
