Sanctuary Planning Events For Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, a busy time for the folks at Sanctuary, Inc.

Executive Director Heather Lancaster tells Your News Edge several regional activities are planned for the month, which kick off Friday night at the Christian County vs. Bowling Green high school football game.

Lancaster adds that on October 15th, City of Hopkinsville officials and Mayor J.R. Knight will sign a proclamation designating the month Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. Additionally, Sanctuary, Inc. will unveil its new mission statement in a ceremony beginning at 5:45 PM inside the Hopkinsville City Council Chambers.

On October 17th, Tea and Talk: Explore Healing Paths will be held at 5:30 PM at Milkweed Health and Harmony Emporium in Hopkinsville.

The final event for the month will be held on October 22nd at 201 East Main Street in Elkton, with doors to open at 6:00 PM.

Lancaster says that domestic violence is a growing concern in our region.

Lancaster adds they have a 24-hour hotline at 1-800-766-0000. Sanctuary, Inc. is committed to providing healing services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence within the nine-county area of the Pennyrile Area Development District including Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Trigg.
