A threat received involving South Christian Elementary School in Herndon led to the school being put on lockdown Monday morning.

Christian County Public School district spokeswoman Johnna Brown says they were made aware of the threat through emergency management, and law enforcement was sent to the school and the area of Herndon Oak Grove Road and Lafayette Road in connection to a possible emergency protective order violation. As a safety precaution the school was put on lockdown as the incident is investigated.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say no credible threat has been located at this time adding they are still investigating the incident and if a violation of an emergency protective order happened.

Deputies say the school and the area around the school are secure at this time.
