She was born on June 4, 1945, in Cerulean, the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Louise Jacob Turner. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, William “Billy” Turner and Jimmy Turner.
After graduating from Trigg County High School in 1963, Betty attended Murray State University. She began her working career at the International Shoe Company in Hopkinsville, and in 1982, she joined Johnson Controls, where she remained a committed employee until her retirement in 2009.
A lifelong member of Cerulean Baptist Church, Betty’s faith was unwavering. She was a devoted mother and doting grandmother, loved to spend time with her family, and enjoyed growing a bountiful garden and tending to her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hugh Blakeley, in 2018.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, William “Billy” Turner and Jimmy Turner; brothers-in-law, Junior Lancaster and William Lawrence; and sister-in-law, Gayle Turner.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny & Sheena Blakeley of Cadiz, KY; her daughter, Lori Blakeley of Cerulean; three grandchildren, Timothy Blakeley (Heather), Jennifer Blakeley Fitzhugh (Shane), and Brandy Blakeley; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Gusgeski, Conner Fitzhugh, Tristan Fitzhugh, and Penelope Blakeley; brother, Ray Turner (Dr. Greta) of Ary, KY; three sisters, Frances Lancaster and Lynn King (Gaylon), both of Cerulean, and Carolyn Lawrence of Cadiz; and sister-in-law, Grace Turner of Cerulean.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service time of 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Cerulean Cemetery.
