Hopkinsville will be represented by an all-Republican city council following Tuesday’s election in the city.
In Ward 1, Vance Smith returns to council, but this time as a Republican. He defeated Democrat Markeeta Wilkerson by 1,803 votes. Incumbent Natasha Francis, who defeated Smith in the 2022 election but lost to him by three votes in the Republican primary, garnered 97 votes.
In Ward 9, Brittanie Bogard was elected to a first term by 1,386 votes over Democrat Angelique Victor and 5,174 votes over Independent Duane Shepard.
Ward 10 voters selected Michael Velez to a first term by 1,353 votes over Andra Gold.
In Ward 12, Elizabeth Draude defeated Samual Goodman by 1,254 votes.
Incumbents Donald Marsh, Chuck Crabtree, Amy Craig, Travis Martin, and Jason Bell were re-elected to the city council. At the same time, Brandi Stallons, Clayton Sumner, and Seth Adam Meek were unopposed and will serve a first term on the city’s governing body.
