While not generating the fanfare of some other races in the county, there will be a pair of new faces to serve on the city councils of two towns in Christian County.
In Oak Grove, the six incumbents received another two-year term on the city council. Challenger Chance Summers missed getting a seat by 29 votes.
Leah Wright received 380 votes, which would have been the fifth-most in the race, but she withdrew as a candidate in September and her votes weren’t allowed per state law.
In Lafayette, Timothy Hancock, Norma Banks, and Sandra Torres will return to the governing body and be joined by newcomer Brandon Borneman.
In Pembroke, Joe Rives, Karen Pyle, and Walter Bell will serve another term on the city council and Kevin Earwood will serve a first term as all four were unopposed.
Whitley Grace, the top vote-getter in the 2022 election, did not seek another term.
The closest race in Christian County on Tuesday happened in the race for Crofton City Council. Seven people were running for six seats with incumbents Reta Fleming, Gregory Paul Owen, James Grace, Wanda Croft, and Wendell Alexander elected to a two-year term. Challenger Jeff Chandler received 114 votes to 112 for incumbent Anthony Durham for the sixth and final seat.
