With the 2024 November General Election in the rearview mirror, Christian County Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel is thanking those who stepped up to serve on the board of education.

Bentzel thanked Rebecca Pepper, Erin Westerfield, and Ambrea Watkins for their willingness to serve the students and staff of the district.

He added Amendment #2, dubbed as ‘School Choice legislation,’ was a lie.

Amendment #2 failed to pass with a 65 percent vote for ‘No’ or voters not in favor of the change in the Kentucky constitution versus the 35 percent that said, ‘Yes.’ The vote was a closer margin in Christian County, with 55 percent or 11,366 voting ‘No’ and the other 9,146 voting ‘Yes.’

Bentzel and other Kentucky Superintendents and school employees were not allowed to share their opinions on Amendment #2 leading up to the election, as it was considered campaigning while using tax dollars.

In his Wednesday interview on WHVO’s Hoptown This Morning, Bentzel also spoke about the district’s Local Planning Committee and the construction of the combined Christian County High School under construction off of Fort Campbell Boulevard.
