A Cadiz man was charged with possession of drugs, receiving stolen property, and burglary on Bethel Street Monday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 42-year-old John Jones because he fit the description of someone who had broken into a car at the courthouse earlier in the morning.

He was reportedly found to have property stolen from the vehicle and five Clonazepam pills.

He was arrested then on charges of receiving stolen property, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and public intoxication.

After further investigation, he was reportedly found to have broken into a daycare on North Drive and identified by security cameras.

Police say he broke the lock, got into a storage unit and the fenced-in area, then took items out of the storage unit and aimlessly walked around for 2 hours before leaving.

A child reportedly located a plastic bag commonly identified with illegal drugs in the same area. Jones, who was already in jail on the previous charges, was then also charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree criminal trespassing.
