Shelby Jean Garrett, age 82, of Hopkinsville, passed away on November 25, 2024, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. Funeral Services will be at noon on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Community Cemetery at 2436 State Route Road 973 Greenville, KY. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Ms. Garrett was born on June 1, 1942, in Greenville, KY, the daughter of the late Elmer Ray and Londa Lenora Cabbage Gossett. Shelby owned and operated Shel’s Beauty Shop. She also worked at Freudenberg Nonwovens, C&F Stamping, Faultless, Phelps Dodge, and the Shoe Factory. She was a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Lee Jarvis.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy (Deana) Garrett of Foley, AL; her daughter, Lisa (Andrew) Wadley of Hopkinsville; her brother, Alan Gossett of Greenville; her sister, Faye (Ren) Hankla of Perryville, KY; her grandchildren, Brittany Garrett, Garrett Wadley, Bethany Gdula, Brookelynn Finley, and Grace Carroll; and ten great-grandchildren.
