(Ret.) Army Col. Bud Metcalf, 89, of Hopkinsville

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Frank “Bud” Metcalf, 89, of Hopkinsville, died Monday, November 25, 2024, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Huck officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the service hour at the church.  Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Mercersburg, PA he was born September 2, 1935, the son of the late Rankin Metcalf and Carrie Catherine Sword Metcalf.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Frank retired from the United States Army as a Colonel having served during Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm.  While in the Army and serving as an Army Nurse Corps Officer he earned his BSN from Columbia Union College and his MSN from Catholic University.  He was a member of the Retired Army Nurse Corps and the Retired Military Officers Association.  Following his retirement, he served as the Executive Director of Nursing for the Saudi Arabian Medical Services for the Saudi Arabian National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers:  William Metcalf, Rankin “Junior” Metcalf, Thomas Metcalf, and Leon Metcalf; and his sisters:  Ruth Landis, Jacqueline Doyle, Betty Bookheimer, Anna Gaye Lauer, and Lila Lee Amsley.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years:  Ann Metcalf; his son:  Mike (Alicia) Metcalf of Aurora, CO; his brother:  Boyd Metcalf; and his sisters:  Mary Lou Bookheimer of Chambersburg, PA and Faye Lynn Muscleman of Mercersburg, PA.

In place of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church or Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Wreath Trust, Inc. – Wreaths Across America.
