Jewell Miller, 96, of Cadiz

Jewell Redd Miller, age 96, of Cadiz, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born on February 15, 1928, in Trigg County, to the late D.B. and Bessie Sumner Redd.

After graduating from Trigg County High School in 1946, Jewell furthered her education at Bowling Green Business University, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in 1948. She worked at Trigg County High School as a secretary for a number of years before eventually transitioning to Trigg County Farmers Bank. At the bank, she worked diligently in the bookkeeping department, as a secretary in the loan department, and later as a teller, retiring in 1990.

Jewell was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devoted member of Cadiz Baptist Church and a member of the Homemaker’s Club. She was an avid reader and a skilled seamstress, having crafted countless beautiful garments for her daughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Bentley; her second husband, Richard Miller; her son-in-law, Kenny Goodwin; her brother, Chappell Redd; and her sister, Freda McAtee.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Bentley (Rajeev Kumara-Rathor) of Atenas, Costa Rica, and Linda M. Hart (Jimmy) of Cadiz; her grandchildren, Jacob Harper (Andrea), Justin Harper (Bonnie), Kevin Goodwin (Kelsey), and step-grandchildren, Austin Hart (Shaina) and Garrett Hart; her great-grandchildren, Ian, Haley, and Preston Harper, Pierce Jones, Pryce Harper, and Karsen Henson; and two brothers, Bernard Redd of Franklin, TN and Billy Redd (Camille) of Cadiz.

Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, with Mr. Howard Coffey and Rev. Jamus Redd officiating. Burial will follow in East End Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the service hour.
