Wild as it may seem, the calendar year is near its end, and a couple of things have Judge-Executive Stan Humphries’ attention as the Christmas holiday approaches.

During Monday’s Trigg County Fiscal Court meeting, he noted that the Angel Tree at the Trigg County Clerk’s Office is “full,” and still has several names on it — probably close to 50.

“Forgotten Angels,” he added, can be found at his office. Those go to nursing homes, and care packages are due by Wednesday before they are returned to the Pennyrile Area Development District.

In other court news:

— Trigg County Dispatch Director Lori Jenkins will be graduating from a class of 31 in criminal justice training with the Kentucky Justice & Public Safety Cabinet, set for 11 AM December 13 in Richmond.

Jenkins noted that two new part-timers have been hired from Hopkinsville, where they work full time for Hopkinsville’s ECC, and their hiring came just in time.

— Humphries said the wrap on the Senior Citizen’s bus, which came as a city-county-tourism-Rotary collaboration, is “nearly complete.”

— Ted Martin was re-appointed to the Lake Barkley Water Board, with his term running from January 1, 2025, until December 31, 2028.

— Both Laura Medley and Lisa Strader were re-appointed to the University of Kentucky Extension Board, with both of their terms running from January 1, 2025, until December 31, 2028.

— Magistrate Mike Wright noted that repairs and remodeling of the West Cadiz Park playground are on schedule, and going well.

The construction should be complete by Spring 2025.

— Humphries said that the Cadiz-Trigg County EDC will be meeting at 11:30 AM this Thursday at the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Office. A couple of topics, he added, will be on the agenda.

— Monday, December 9, the Pennyrile Area Development District will be hosting its Legislative Holiday Update at Pennyrile Forest State Park. Humphries said he plans to be in attendance.
