A O’Fallon, Illinois woman was charged with drug possession in Hopkinsville after a traffic stop on Maplewood Street Wednesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Thomas Hood of Cahokia, Illinois, for him not wearing his seat belt and could smell the odor of marijuana in the vehicle.

He reportedly admitted to smoking and showed the officer the marijuana. Police say his passenger 36-year-old Carrie Bailey stated she had a gun in her bag and after a search, a gun, white powder, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Hood was cited to court for failure to wear a seat belt, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and possession of marijuana. Bailey was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine.
