Funeral services for 71 year old Lewis Earl Downing of Calvert City, KY will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Gilbertsville, KY with Bro. Charles La Chance, Bro. Chris Downing and Ed Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church and again on Tuesday, from 10:00-11:00 at Bethel Baptist Church. King’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Please join the family for a worship service as we worship the Lord that Lewis served so faithful.

Lewis Earl Downing was born in Benton, KY on February 3, 1953 to Alford Allen Downing and Margaret Evelyn Sphinx Downing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Ann Wilhoit Downing.
Lewis passed from this world on Thursday morning, January 30, 2025 with his son and daughter holding his hands surrounded by family at his home.
Lewis was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Gilbertsville, KY. He was an active member of the church serving as the Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Teacher and serving on numerous committees. He retired from Kraft Food Service in Paducah, worked at Westlake PVC in Calvert City and then retired for a second time from Ingram Barge Company as a Purchasing Manager. Lewis loved spending time with his family, spoiling his children and grandchildren. He was a UK Basketball and Cardinals fan.
