Hopkinsville City Council chose to defer a decision on a zoning request as well as a funding request. Tuesday night, Community Development Services Director, Tom Britton presented Council with a recommendation from planning and zoning for the Newcomb Oil property on Pembroke Road, which was annexed in 2024 and is currently the construction site of a FiveStar convenience store and gas station.

City Council did approve the municipal order creating Hoptown Helps as well as the annexation of the Berry property adjacent to the new KY-115 connector.
Meanwhile, Chief Financial Officer, Melissa Clayton says 1.4 million has been collected in business licenses so far for the year, but the state and federal government are extending the tax deadline for this year.
