Hopkinsville Mayor J. R. Knight says Hopkinsville Council members have been included in conversations concerning industrial project interest payments approved during a special called council meeting Monday night.
In response to several questions posed to Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation Chairman John Crenshaw and South West Kentucky EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks during Monday night’s meeting, Mayor Knight says he was hoping to have the spec building in Commerce Park sold to Kitchen Foods by the end of the month.
Knight says the city benefits from the industrial park and needs to pay its share.
The Mayor says that after the initial discussion at the Hopkinsville City Council meeting on March 18th, Industrial Foundation Chairman John Crenshaw and EDC Director Carter Hendricks were both prepared to answer the concerns of council members.
Mayor Knight says the action taken by the city council on Monday does not mean Kitchen Foods will not purchase the spec building.
The Mayor also discussed Ascend Elements and new industries’ impact on the region.
